1. LUNI
Tot în primele lecții îi citisem Ecaterinei din cartea What will the weather be? despre modul în care apar norii:
"Sometimes it is cooler air from the north.
Sometimes it is warmer air from the south. The new air pushes against the old air.
The place where this happens is called a front.
Where cold air pushes against warm air, we say there is cold front. Cold fronts move fast. They can make the wind howl. They quickly push warm air up and out of the way. The rising air carries water. The water is not a liquid. It is called water vapor.
As the air rises, it cools, and the water turns to liquid. High in the sky, the drops of liquid water clump together and make clouds."
Cartea Clouds (care face parte dintr-o serie de cărți de știință cu întrebări și răspunsuri dedicată preșcolarilor) este perfectă pentru a afla tipurile de nori și rolul acestora.
Tot de acolo aflăm rolul fiecărui tip de nor:
"Cirrus clouds are hardly there. They look like wispy white feathers trailing across blue sky. They mean sunny weather with no rain.
Cirrostratus clouds cover the hole sky. They tell us that it may rain or snow in twelve to twenty-four hours. Stratus mens clouds that are flat and spread out like a blanket.
Small, puffy white clouds scattered across the entire sky are cirrocumulus clouds. cumulus means that a cloud is rounded instead of flat. Cirrocumulus clouds can mean it is going to get colder.
Altostratus clouds are gray-blue and streaky and cover the sky. They tell you it could rain that night or the next day."

Poate urma o activitate senzorială, mai ușoară, ca destindere. Puteți crea un sensory bin care să imite cerul folosind hârtie creponată tăiată fâșii și vată pe post de nori.

Sau un sensory bin cu orez vopsit albastru, nori din vată (cei întunecați sunt vopsiți cu acuarele), soare din baking cups (sunt hârtii care se pun la brioșe), fulgere din sârmă plușată galbenă, vânt din aceeași sârmă răsucită, ceața din bucăți drepte de sârmă plușată, stropi de ploaie din mărgele de sticlă, fulgi de zăpadă perforați în hârtie albă/gri/albastră.

Ne vom bucura citind și admirând minunatele tablouri din cartea Cloud Dance de Thomas Locker, o bijuterie de carte, o îmbinare de știință și artă.
Despre pictorul Thomas Locker
Thomas Locker was one of the major American painters of the past century. In a career that spanned almost 60 years, he had over 75 solo exhibitions. His work ranged from the delicate to the monumental, but all had one thing in common: the beauty of the natural world. He had a deep appreciation for the elusive link between the human spirit and the sublime force of nature. He spent his entire life in service to his two great passions: painting and nature. Through widespread exhibition of his artwork and publication of his illustrated children’s books, Mr. Locker touched the hearts and minds of countless people. Mr. Locker’s early paintings were poetic landscapes. Dr. Joshua C. Taylor, former director of the National Collection of Fine Arts for the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., wrote, "Although Locker’s landscapes are not glimpses of a new Arcadia, the quotation from the past re-emphasizes their cerebral play. They call attention less to Nature than to the complex intermingling of perception and thought in the mind of man. Suddenly, seeing becomes thinking, and thinking a delight to the age." In 1982, Thomas Locker’s career took on a new and even broader dimension. In an effort to connect with a wider audience and educate younger minds, he began work on his first children’s picture book, Where the River Begins. Today, Mr. Locker’s exceptional paintings and illustrations grace the pages of some 30 different books, several of which he also wrote. These unique books have been honoured with numerous awards, including the prestigious Christopher Award, the John Burroughs Award, and the New York Times Award for best illustration. Textul poetic se împletește minunat cu ilustrațiile:

Plecând de la aceste ilustrații, vom experimenta tehnici diverse de pictură:

cu pasteluri uleioase
Aici există o sursă pentru pasteluri uleioase. Aceste pasteluri uleioase au profunzime si stralucire fata de cele uscate. In afara de executiile pe carton, foaie se pot realiza lucrari si pe panza, lemn sau carton. In functie de forta cu care sunt apasate (aplicate pe hartie), pastelurile pot imprima culori tari si stralucitoare sau culori pale si delicate. Cu partea plata a acestor pasteluri putem colora portiuni mari, pe cand cu muchiile acestora putem desena detaliile. Pentru a da stralucire culorilor sau pt a sterge culorile, putem folosi guma plasticata, creionul din hartie sau lama. Culorile pot fi combinate pe hartie sau in urma razuirii intr-o tavita destinata acestui scop. Creatiile artistice pot fi fixate cu spray fixativ special pentru carbune sau creta.
Pentru pastelurile uleioase trebuie folosită hârtie de acuarela groasă de 350gr/mp sau 600gr/mp.
Liniile crează efecte tridimensionale și iluzia mișcării și pe deasupra cred că ar fi un exercițiu interesant de răbdare, atenție și perseverență pentru ea să încerce să traseze liniile paralel, măcar la nivelul cerului.

Ca să nu se plictisească, o să aleg un carton mare și gros alb și vom picta pe el folosind câteva din tehnicile enumerate mai sus.
Pe parcursul zilei vom asculta muzică clasică inspirată de nori:
Debussy - "Nuages"
Franz Liszt - "Nuages Gris"
Noi vom continua cu știința și vom face un experiment: nor într-un borcan.
Materiale necesare:
- apă fierbinte
- bucăți de gheață
- borcan cu capac
- fixativ
Cum procedezi:
Torni apa în borcan, bucățile de gheață le așezi pe capac deasupra (vezi capacul nu e înșurubat, ci stă invers, ca o farfurie pentru gheață). Așteaptă 20 secunde, după care aplică fixativ în interiorul borcanului cu apă și acoperă la loc cu capacul cu gheață. Așteaptă și privește cum se formează norul în borcan.

Vom experimenta texturi noi și vom face cloud dough (un fel de aluat cu textură pufoasă) făcută doar din ulei pentru bebeluși și făină.
